The best way to learn about something is to experience it. Year 2 had the perfect lesson about democracy and the history of our Town Hall and Mayor by visiting this important building and taking part in a real debate. We were so very proud of our young pupils as they sat in the Council Chambers and put forward very interesting contributions to the debate entitled ‘Should chocolate be banned as it is unhealthy?’ You would be surprised to hear how many children supported this motion but fortunately it was defeated in the final vote! Mayor Councillor John Beckett and Mace Bearer Rob gave us such a warm welcome and we all enjoyed the delightful afternoon.
