On Wednesday we set off on our first School Trip on a coach! We went to Dapdune Wharf in Guildford and learnt all about the early form of transport using horses to pull canal barges. We had three adventures whilst we were there. We foraged for natural materials in the river bank meadow and made a crown with the beautiful feathers, bark and plants that we found. We toured the museum areas pulling on pulleys, investigating barrels of goods on a large barge in dry dock, looking at pictures and models of the canal system and seeing the stables and blacksmith area that the horses needed long ago. Our final adventure was on board a boat and we loved sailing along hearing about the history of the canals from Bob and spotting a selection of wildlife as we travelled along. What a wonderful day!
