Wonderful Worms

On Wednesday the worms arrived and the Reception children have absolutely loved them. Worm glass tanks were filled with layers of compost and leaves ready to house these wiggly invertebrates and the children delighted in handing and observing the new worms as their homes were being prepared. We also had a delivery of suspiciously realistic soft plastic worms which formed the basis for some amazing maths work with part, part whole addition and measuring and comparing activities eagerly completed. Add to that the exciting literacy challenges suggested by the wonderful book ‘Superworm’ by Julia Donaldson and you can imagine the extraordinary enthusiasm and output producing some truly exceptional work!
