Year 2 Spread Festive Cheer at the Ashley Centre

Year 2 were in full festive spirit today as they set off on a very special seasonal outing to the Ashley Centre. Bursting with excitement, the children gathered to share some festive spirit with shoppers through a joyful singing performance.

Under the expert direction of our specialist music teacher, Mrs Colchester, the children sang a wonderful selection of Christmas favourites. From We Wish You a Merry Christmas and O Christmas Tree to the beautifully sung Once in Royal David’s City, they filled the Ashley Centre with warmth and harmony. There were smiles all round during lively renditions of Jingle Bells, complete with enthusiastic bell-jingling, and the children’s bright and cheerful version of Feliz Navidad had plenty of toes tapping!

The performance culminated in an uplifting rendition of Spread the Word, the finale song the whole school sang at this week’s Nativity. With energetic actions and impressive hand-jiving, Year 2 captured the attention of passing shoppers, many of whom paused to listen and applaud.

To top it all off, the children were treated to a surprise visit from Santa and his elves, much to their delight. The children truly did us proud, and we’d like to say a special thank you to all the parent helpers and family members who joined us and supported the children too.

Today’s singing also supported the Epsom Medical Equipment Fund, with shoppers kindly encouraged to make donations. Their generosity helps provide vital equipment for our local community, including defibrillators, cancer-detecting CT scanners, mammography machines, and apparatus for the High Dependency Unit, among many other life-saving resources.
