Year 2 Wow Audiences with A Hint of Snow White

This week, Year 2 had everyone smiling from the very first moment of their delightful pantomime production of A Hint of Snow White – a colourful and thoroughly entertaining show that showcased just how much confidence and creativity our young performers have developed.

Set in the magical, multi-coloured kingdom of Duluxembourg, Year 2 took the audience on a lively adventure where goodness and kindness triumphed over wicked magic. Our young thespians embraced every part of the pantomime tradition, from the humour and larger-than-life characters to the fantastic audience participation – oh yes they did! With plenty of chances to join in, the audience were soon singing along to the chorus.

Each performer shone in their role, bringing fantastic energy and personality to the stage. The wonderfully dramatic Queen Malodorous, played by Aathvika, kept the audience entertained with her over-the-top villainy, while Mateo’s mischievous Lickspittle added plenty of humour along the way. Polly brought warmth and cheer to the role of Cleanie Jeanie, spreading positivity wherever she appeared, and Martha’s Snow White captivated everyone with her kindness, confidence and clear, expressive voice. Every character was brought to life with enthusiasm and big smiles, and it was a pleasure to see how confidently the children delivered their lines and supported one another throughout the performance.

The catchy songs had the audience tapping along throughout, while the bright, colourful costumes brought the stage to life with energy and excitement. The whole production was upbeat, polished and bursting with fun from start to finish building to a big, heart-warming finale that left more than a few happy tears in the audience.

Being on stage felt like second nature for our Year 2 children, with music, drama and performance woven seamlessly into life at St Christopher’s from Nursery. This strong foundation shone through in every scene, as each child performed with confidence, boundless enthusiasm and beaming smiles right through to the final bow.

A huge round of applause to all of Year 2, their teachers Mrs Leyland and Mrs Gunn for directing the show, our specialist Music Teacher, Mrs Colchester, who led the musical direction as well as lighting and sound, and our Art Specialist, Mrs Degg, for the wonderful set design. Thank you also to all our fantastic teachers and Teaching Assistants for their support with costumes, staging and dance. Together, they created a joyful pantomime that left everyone smiling from ear to ear!
