Where Next?

We support and guide you throughout the transition process.

From initial conversations through deliberations to final choices, we work closely with you to help you find the school where your child will continue to thrive in the round. Small class sizes mean we truly know and love your child and can offer personalised advice.

We offer two pathways so that your child is supported to achieve their goals, whether moving within the RGS family or to other leading schools in the area.

The RGS Junior Schools Early Offer Pathway

As part of the Reigate Grammar School family, we have strong links and offer a smooth pathway to our sister prep schools, Chinthurst (Tadworth), Micklefield and Reigate St Mary’s (both in Reigate). Chinthurst is under 10 minutes away from St Christopher’s and is, therefore, the RGS Junior school most often chosen by St Christopher’s parents.

Your child will receive a confirmed place by the end of Year 1 – without the need of a formal entrance assessment – allowing them to carry on learning and having fun in Year 2 rather than work towards a specific assessment.

Offers are made through shared data and professional dialogue rather than a one-off assessment, so your child’s overall achievements are assessed over a period of time.

This is echoed by an early offer process from RGS Senior Schools (Reigate Grammar School & RGS Surrey Hills) for Year 5 children at all of the RGS Junior Schools, providing a seamless journey through the RGS family.

Being part of the same family allows for an exciting and extensive transition programme during Year 2, which ensures your child feels at home before they even start.

The 7+ Pathway

We have long standing relationships with City of London Freemen’s School, and other leading schools in the area. Over time, this has allowed us to build a deep understanding of their admissions processes, expectations, and ethos. Drawing on this insight, we offer a robust, supportive, and child-centred 7+ programme that prepares pupils with confidence rather than pressure.

For families choosing the 7+ pathway, we tailor each child’s preparation throughout Year 2, ensuring they are gently introduced to the key skills and formats they may encounter in entrance assessments. Our approach balances readiness with wellbeing—maintaining low pressure, preserving the joy of learning, and keeping children motivated, curious, and proud of their achievements.

Our aim is to help your child secure a place at the school best suited to their individual strengths, learning styles and aspirations. Whether that leads to Freemen’s or another destination, we work closely with families to ensure each child is supported to take their next step with confidence, enthusiasm, and a strong sense of who they are as a learner.
