Celebrating Grandparents at St Christopher’s
14th May 2026
Over two wonderful mornings, St Christopher’s warmly welcomed grandparents into school to celebrate the important family members in our lives alongside the children in their Houses, with our special guests enjoying the chance to experience a little of everyday life at St Christopher’s.
We were thrilled to welcome grandparents who travelled from far and wide to join the celebrations, with visitors coming from as far as Florida, Cumbria and Southampton, alongside many from our local community.
Each morning began with a special assembly before grandparents headed off with their grandchildren to explore classrooms, look through books and see the children’s learning in action. The hall was filled with conversation over tea and cake and, in true St Christopher’s tradition, everyone was treated to a fantastic whole-school rap performance which brought huge smiles across the room.
In Nursery, there was plenty of creativity and excitement as grandparents joined the children to make crowns and rosettes, decorate iced biscuits and create family trees together. One of the most treasured activities across the school was looking through the children’s St Christopher’s books – special albums that follow each child throughout their journey at the school, filled with photographs, memories and milestones from their earliest years onwards.
The mornings created so many special memories, and grandparents loved seeing the children so happy and confident in their school environment. A very special thank you to all our grandparents for joining us and for the important role you play in the lives of our children and our wider school community.
Here’s what some of our visiting grandparents had to say about their favourite moments from the morning:
