St Christopher’s Celebrates with the Great Pancake Race

Last Tuesday, the whole school gathered on the playground for the much-anticipated annual Great Pancake Race.

With Shrove Tuesday falling during half term this year, it provided the perfect excuse to extend the celebrations and bring the whole school together for this much-loved tradition.

Excitement filled the air as children, dressed in their house colours and proudly representing their houses, lined up at the starting line with frying pans in hand and pancakes at the ready. The challenge? Race across the playground while skilfully flipping the pancake and catching it again in the pan.

Laughter echoed across the playground as the races began. The children showed great determination and coordination, doing their very best to keep their pancakes soaring through the air and landing safely back in the pan. There were some impressive flips, a few daring mid-race saves, and plenty of encouragement from classmates cheering on their friends.

A special thank you to Mrs Rendall, whose legendary “indestructible pancakes” truly lived up to their name. They survived every flip, drop and mid-air twist throughout the morning. Thanks to her efforts, every child had a pancake to race with – no matter how many times it landed on the ground!

It was wonderful to see such fantastic team spirit, determination and enthusiasm from everyone involved. We’re already looking forward to doing it all again next year!
