Year 1’s Coding Adventure at Chinthurst School
6th February 2026
Year 1 had an exciting computing morning today as they hopped on minibuses and headed to our sister school, Chinthurst School up the road in Tadworth. They were warmly welcomed by Head Miss Trundle – with plenty of excitement about whether wellbeing dog Scout might make an appearance too!
The children had a brilliant time exploring coding with the fun indi cars, led by Chinthurst’s Computing teachers, Mr Cookson and Miss Gilmore. These clever little robots are powered by colour, making learning playful and imaginative as the children designed and built their own mazes. They learnt the basics of coding and computational thinking by placing colour tiles to tell the indi cars where to go, how fast to move and what actions to take – forwards, backwards, left turn, right turn, spin!
With lots of problem-solving, teamwork and excitement, our young coders had so much fun experimenting with different courses and commands. It was a fantastic morning of learning through play – and the children loved the minibus adventure too. Thank you, Chinthurst, for hosting us!
