A Glowing End to the Term: Our Festival of Light Service
15th December 2025
What a wonderful way to end the term, celebrate a whole calendar year of learning, and round off an action-packed week of festive fun! On Friday, our entire school community came together for our much-loved annual Christmas Festival of Light Service, led by our fantastic Year 2 children.
After a week full of Christmas cheer – from Christmas Dinner and Christmas Jumper Day to the Elf Run and a visiting panto performance – the service provided a calm, magical moment to pause and reflect. Showcasing the beautiful Christingles they had lovingly created, each adorned with four sweet-filled sticks and glowing softly by candlelight, the children explored the meaning behind this special tradition. They shared messages of kindness, generosity and love with confidence and warmth.
The children treated us to a line-up of beautifully sung Christmas carols, including impressive solo performances from a Year 2 and a Reception child, as well as delightful xylophone playing during Do You Hear What I Hear. The Service culminated in a joyful rendition of We Wish You a Merry Christmas.
A big thank you to our brilliant Year 2 children, to our wonderful music teacher, Mrs Colchester, and to the entire Year 2 team for leading such a meaningful and joyful service. It was a beautiful way to close the term, celebrate the calendar year of learning, and send everyone off into the Christmas holidays feeling festive!
