Reception are ‘Going on a Bear Hunt’

Last week Reception had fun retelling the timeless story, ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ by Michael Rosen through drama and ‘Talk for Writing’. In readiness for going on a ‘Bear Hunt’ in the grounds of St Christopher’s school, the children made binoculars so that they would be able to spot any hiding bears. The children carefully explored, and excitedly spotted many different types of bear. This inspired the children to create some amazing writing and we were most impressed with their sentence construction. We are now experts in Reception at using finger spaces, spelling key words accurately and sounding through tricky words so that they are written in a phonetically plausible way. Many of us are also using full stops and capital letters, with some of us making our sentences more exciting by using adjectives or a wider range of vocabulary. Have you ever been on a bear hunt?
