The Jolly Postman

Our new topic ‘Let’s Celebrate’ is being inspired by The Jolly Postman. Last week the children were fascinated when a letter covered in cobwebs arrived at St Christopher’s for our Reception classes! They were asked by the witch to create and leave some potions for her, which of course they did rather imaginatively! The children’s writing to accompany their potions was fantastic.

In Maths we have been looking at the shapes of The Jolly Postman’s parcels! We have cleverly learnt the names of many 3D shapes and had great fun wrapping our own parcels, which of course needed written labels and stickers before being placed in our role-play area. We have also been looking at real objects and matching them to 3D shapes.
