Brooklands
25th May 2017
What fun was had by all when Reception visited Brooklands Museum in Weybridge. The trip enhanced and excited all the children as well as bringing to life our topic ‘Ready, Steady, Go!’
The children were excited to see all the different types and ages of cars on show. They even had a go driving a formula 1 car! There was an amazing array of bicycles ranging from a Penny Farthing to a modern day Olympic bike.
As the children headed towards the aeroplane, they were greeted with the wondrous sight of concord. They went aboard a Sultans plane, which was very luxurious in its day. Here they met a volunteer who answered their questions about the aircraft. As we left the plan the volunteer commented on how well behaved the children were. The children then moved on to a test plane where pilots were trained and had a go at sending Morse code, reading maps and even flying the plane.
One of the most thrilling parts of the day was when they went to the London bus section of the museum. Here they located the ‘Naughty Bus’ from our story telling and went to the top of a tram bus.
A great day was had by all!
