The classic book featured in this year’s The Great Read, was The Wizard of Oz and this book featured throughout the magical night providing the setting for our annual reading competition. Children from 5 local schools joined us for a joyful evening of literature. The Year 2 children were all mixed into teams by our Harry Potter Sorting Hat and displayed a wide range of knowledge as they competed in each round. The contemporary book round featured the book Fantastic Frankie and the Brain Drain Machine by author Anna Kemp who joined us on the night to judge the Poetry Competition in the interval. All the children were awarded a certificate and medal and the winning team won book tokens too! What a magical night.
