Year 2 News- ‘Around the World in 80 Bricks’ at LEGOLAND

To finish our fabulous topic ‘Pole to Pole’, Year Two descended to LEGOLAND for an action packed day. The initial workshop, ‘Around the World in 80 Bricks’ enabled us to look initially at the Earth’s Continents and Oceans through LEGO. We then worked in small teams to recreate famous landmarks, animals and buildings linked to the continents using LEGO which were then assembled onto a LEGO map. We were then amazed by the wonderful ‘Miniland’ where 40million Lego bricks have been used to recreate famous landmarks around the world, the largest being Canary Wharf Tower at 5.2 metres high and the smallest using just 5 bricks were Trafalgar Square pigeons! Finally the day wouldn’t have been complete without having fun on the many wonderful rides and attractions.
